planning on starting up again.

wondering how tide can/will affect my session. when should i be getting in the water to get the best contitions??
pacifica and santa cruz are my most likely destinations.
never really knew before, just went out whenever i had time and called it good...

I have a book that Surfline put out that's called "California Surf Guide", which lists many of the good spots and comments on best tide, swell direction, season, etc. They do a bit of that stuff on the Surfline website as well. I'd suggest going and checking that out. -

Even just knowing what is going on with the tides, direction etc when you go out helps you figure out what works for the spots closest to you. I know lots of people who keep records or journals of what was going on with the the tides etc and how the surf was... I tend to just store the information in my head. Course even with all this information sometimes it still doesn't make any sense. If in doubt, go out...
