2 friends of mine saw what they described as huge dolphins-darkest grey/black, one friend saw them up very close last week and said they had spots. Any idea what they are? Where they came from?

Up close they look huge because they are. Adults are massive.
Many I see have spots or splotchy coloration.
If they looked a lot like dolphins, then that's what they were. -
